Streeter praises PCC for demonstrating a sharp understanding of local need
Thanks to the direct intervention of the Conservative Police and Crime Commissioner, Devonport residents can more easily report crimes and speak to officers face to face.
A new police station front desk has opened at the Chapel Street station in Devonport. It will serve as a public enquiry office and initially be open 10am-3pm on Mondays to Wednesdays, with a view to opening six days a week in the New Year.
Welcoming the Police desk Gareth Streeter, Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for Plymouth Sutton & Devonport said:
“Police and Crime Commissioners are supposed to develop a sharp understanding of the local need and employ resources accordingly. This is exactly what Alison Hernandez has done.
“The new police desk will be a welcome relief to local residents, making it easier to have difficult conversations face to face at a time when they are feeling vulnerable. It will help improve the dialogue between the police and the community and is likely to make a positive impact in crime reduction.”
The police enquiry officers at Devonport will work with their colleagues in the control rooms by handling non-emergency contact from the public and providing the local community with another contact option, which will improve the convenience of contacting the police and strengthen the service they offer.
